Thiruvarur Saikrishnan is one of the well-known Mridangam and Kanjira artist in the field of Carnatic Music. He started playing Mridangam at the age of 8. He started his initial training from Thiruvarur Sri. Rajagopala Iyer fondly known as Sri Kunju Iyer. He is the son of Violin Vidwan Kalaimamani Thiruvarur N. Balan and nephew of Padmasri Dr. N. Ramani, a well-known Flute Vidwan. He then moved to Chennai and was trained by Sri Tanjore Upendran and Sri Melakaveri Krishnamurthy in Mridangam. Then he learned advance Mridangam and Kanjira classes from Sri Kumbakonam Rajappa Iyer. He has shared the stage with many popular Carnatic musicians and is the Asthana Vidwan of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. He has also won many titles and awards from all over the world.
Beginner Mridangam
A well-structured course where the students will learn the fundamentals of Mridangam that includes basic Carnatic music theory, Indian Percussion theory and complete Aadi Thalam lessons. The courses consists of around 10 modules in which the students will be learning Thisra (3 beats), Chathusra (4 beats) and Kanta (5 beats) in Aadhi thalam, Mohara and Koravai and some interesting korvais in Aadhi thalam.
