Mahima Dayal Mathur, professionally known as Bawari Basanti is a Hindustani classical and folk singer, recording artist and songwriter from New Delhi, India. Her style of work is uniquely melodic, and concerns itself with ideas of identity, doubt and dreams in a dystopian state. Mahima started to learn music at the young age of nine, from her grandmother, Late Smt. Lalita Dayal who would take classes for classical music in their family home. A culturally rich environment at home provided the foundation for her art and nourished her creative abilities. She later studied Hindustani Music under Ms Jyotika Paust at Sri Ram Bhariya Kala Kendra and at Prayaag Sangeet Samiti. She went to Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music to learn performing arts and is currently working on collecting sounds and making experiential music. BawariBasanti is known for her collaborations with notable artists, including Zion Train (Neil Perch), Akshay Johar (Mojojojo), Azhar Anwar (Basanti aur Rahza), Jules Deville, Vir Singh Brar, and with her French band, Spicy Frog.
In this course, students will be trained in the the fundamentals of Hindustani vocals that includes Shruthi Setting, Voice modulation training (Karach and Uperstayi), Swara Parichay, Swara Sadhana, Thalam training, Implementation of basics into different thalams and introduction to 4 basic raags. On completion of this course, students would have a strong fundamental knowledge about Hindustani music, the raags and thaals. The course exposes and trains the students in theory, shruthi and laya aspects of vocal music. This course also involves breath control training and voice culture..
