Himaja Samaraj, a promising young Carnatic Vocal, and Violinist, belongs to an elite family of Nadhaswaram vidwans, popularly known as the Sembanarkoil family. She had her initial training from her grandfather Sri. S.R.D. Vaidyanathan and Ramnad Sri. P.M. Lakshmana Iyer. Currently, she is pursuing her professional-level training under the legendary musicians Smt. Suguna Varadachari and Sri Akkarai Swaminathan in Vocal and Violin respectively. She is also pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Music. She has won numerous prizes in various national-level competitions and competitions held at various sabhas in India. She is a recipient of the prestigious CCRT scholarship by the govt of India. The award Kalai Ilamani was conferred on her by the government of Tamil Nadu. She has performed various concerts all over India and abroad. Himaja is also a versatile vocalist with expertise in Playback (Film), Folk, and Tamil music.
In this course, students will be trained in the the fundamentals of Carnatic vocals that includes Varisaigal, Alankarams, Geethams, Swarajathi and Simple Carnatic Krithis. This course also involves basic theory lessons and voice training. On completion of this course, students will have a good idea about the basics of Carnatic music - the raaga and thala system and will be ready to sing simple carnatic krithis. The students will also be eligible for the Intermediate level in which they will be trained more advanced concepts like Aadhi thala Varnams, Ata thala varnams and advanced Krithis (Carnatic Songs)..
