Manu Krishnan

Manu Krishnan is an established professional musician with prowess in Carnatic singing as well as Mridangam, Konnakol and Western Percussion. Born in Kochi to a family with deep appreciation and practice of traditional Carnatic Music, Manu underwent tutelage under his father Unnikrishnan Unni V, a singer and vocal teacher from the early age of five. By age eight he also began learning Mridangam under the mentorship of Palghat T.R. Rajamani (Son of Mridangam maestro Palghat T. S. Mani Iyer). By age fifteen he took to drums, intrigued by its versatile application in various forms of music. Within a short span of time, he gained rapid recognition for his stellar live performances and unique take on music emerging at the time. In 2015, Manu Krishnan completed his Diploma in Music Performance with a “General Excellence Scholarship for Innovation in multiple genres” at Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music (S.A.M), Chennai. By collaborating and creating initiatives to learn from pioneers in the field, he has enhanced his knowledge and creativity to develop as an accomplished drummer, mridangam player and Carnatic vocalist. He is one of the few Indian musicians capable of Carnatic style singing as well as playing drums at the same time. Dedication, precision, versatility and impeccable work ethics has established him as a musician of international repute.
