Shimoga K. Kumaraswamy, the son and disciple of Sri.A.P.Krishnamurthy, is one of the leading Saxophone artists in the Indian carnatic music field. He started learning the saxophone at the age of 12 from Vidwan Uppinangadi Sri Nagesh. His higher education in the same was from Vidwan Sri Ramadoss from Tanjore. He then underwent advanced training in carnatic music under the tutelage of Sangeetha Kalanidhi T.V.Gopalakrishnan . Better known as Saxophone Kumaraswamy, he is one among the few artistes who evoke the flavor of Karnataka Sangeet and Dasa literature on the western classical instrument, the saxophone. He is a regular performer in popular tv channels like Udhaya, Chanthana, ETV, Raj and Jaya tv and has performed concerts all over the world. Shri Kumarasamy is a recipient of numerous awards and titles that include the Madras Telugu Academy Award, Tyagaraja Purandhara Kanaka Jayanthi award by Madhurai Sangeetha Kala Acadamy, Saxophone Samrat by Ganapathi Temple in Shimoga, Kala Ratna and Kala Saraswati Varaputra by Akhila Karnataka Savita Samaja’, Saxophone Samaras' award by Shimoga Pomminkatta Sri Ganapathy temple. In this course, students will be exposed to the fundamentals of Carnatic music, Saxophone blowing and fingering techniques. On the completion of this course, students will be ready to play very simple carnatic songs (Krithis) on the Saxophone.
