Shanmuga Priya

Shanmuga Priya started her journey as a dancer at a very young age of 8 at Swaralaya dance institute Chennai, One of the leading institutes for dance. She was trained directly by great Smt. Shyamala Balan and Smt. Veena Ramani. She performed her Arangetram at the Vani Mahal, Chennai, which was graced by the presence of several eminent personalities. Apart from dance, Shanmuga priya is a well-trained Carnatic vocalist, Trained under the guidance of veteran gurus like Smt. Seethalakshmi and Smt. Nandhini Shankar. Shanmuga priya has performed several Bharatnatyam and vocal concerts all over the country and she has also won many awards. She was the recipient of “Nattuvanga Kalaamani” from the renowned Annamalai university, Chidambaram and Recipient of “Natya Visharada” from the dance exponent Smt. Indira Kadambi and Dr. M Prameela Gurumoorthy (Professor and head of Indian music, University of madras) and actress devyani and many more accolades. She is a passionate choreographer and teacher, where her students were awarded the title “Vithaga Sirpi” and they have won National level dance competitions like IMCT and many other dance competitions. She has also performed all over the world in multiple TV shows and competitions. She has performed for a dance production called Colours conducted by Padmashri Shobhana. She has performed in the prestigious Doordarshan channel and was also awarded by the Collector of Chennai for performing at the TTDC cultural festival. Her students have also been trained to participate and win in many competitions and TV shows.
