Thyagaraj Ranga

Thyagaraj Ranga is a bona fide young saxophonist with great panache. He hails from a family of illustrious musicians from Doddaballapur town, Bangalore. His grandfather Vidwan. Sri. Nagappa was an honorable ‘Asthana Vidwan’ in the Kingdom of Mysore. Thyagaraj began his training in Carnatic Vocal and Instrumental music at the tender age of 7 under his father Vidwan. Sri. Rangappa, a proficient flautist and vocalist. He started playing the saxophone out of his own interest and later underwent professional training under Vidwan. Sri. Harish Pandav. He also underwent advanced vocal training under Vidushi. Smt. Anupama Thyagarajan. After years and years of training, Thyagaraj’s unique talent began to get recognized and he started performing vocal and saxophone concerts all over India and abroad. His expertise in multiple genres of music gave him an opportunity to work with many leading bands like Vasu Dixit Collective, Shadowz, Allegro, and Swaratharanga. His style of playing is characterized by dexterity in playing Kalpana Swaras, especially his Muthayee swaras are loved by the audience all over the world. He has entertained music lovers of all sorts with his creative way of playing the Krithis and giving the compositions a unique western touch too. Thyagaraj Ranga has also been a panel member and an esteemed judge for many celebrated events like ‘Kalanjali’, ‘Verve’ at Sir.MVIT Bangalore, ‘Allstate Idol’ to name a few.
