In fact, the Carnatic guitar was first introduced by Sukumar Prasad in the seventies. Ever since, the instrument has been pivotal in bringing Indian classical music to the mainstream.
The guitar is one of the most favoured instruments among all ages, typically preferred in a solo stage performance or a friendly jam session. Overview
In this course, students will be exposed to the fundamentals of Carnatic music and Guitar fingering techniques. On the completion of this course, students will be ready to play simple carnatic songs (Krithis) on the guitar. This course would give the students a great head start on the techniques of playing the Indian Carnatic Music on a modern western instrument thereby making the course unique.Course Goals
The following will be covered in this course: Basics of Music, Basics of Carnatic Music, Music theory and fundamentals of guitar, Varisaigal, Alankarams, Geetham and Swarajathi, Basic Carnatic Krithis. Students will be able to play simple Carnatic music songs on the completion of this course.Prerequisites

- Introduction to Carnatic music and Music theoryDifficulty: EasyDuration: 1 hour
A brief introduction to Carnatic music, Indian Carnatic Raaga and Thala system. - VarisaigalDifficulty: EasyDuration: 10 hours
Lessons that teach the fundamental ascending and descending melody sequences. This module also includes Aakaram training. - AlankaramDifficulty: MediumDuration: 8 hours
Alakarams are lessons composed in a variety of thalams that focuses on improving the rhythm aspects of the student. It involves singing/playing the notes in different speeds. - Geetham and SwarajathiDifficulty: MediumDuration: 10 hours
These simple lessons give the students a great exercise on combining the melody, notes, and the thala. - Simple KrithisDifficulty: HardDuration: 10 hours
Basic Carnatic songs with a focus on improving the melody aspects of singing/playing.
Overview
This course is focussed on improving the fingering techniques and the Carnatic music depth of the student. This is achieved by teaching the students Aadhi thala and Ata thala varnams in different speeds and Intermediate level Krithis. On completion of this course, the students will be able tohandle the instrument with a higher level of confidence and will be ready to play intermediate level Krithis (Carnatic songs) on the guitar.Prerequisites

An introduction to imporant concepts that are mandatory to understand before going into intermediate lessons. - Aadhi Thala VarnamsDifficulty: HardDuration: 30 hours
A minimum of 8 Aadhi thala varnams. This module also include Voice/Fingering training in different raagams. - Ata Thala VarnamsDifficulty: HardDuration: 15 hours
Any one Ata Thala varnam. - Intermediate Level KrithisDifficulty: HardDuration: 25 hours
A minimum of 5 intermediate level krithis composed by Trinities.
Overview
This course provides in depth Carnatic Guitar training that includes playing complex varnams in different speeds, advanced level krithis (including 1 Pancharathna Krithi) and techniques to achieve dexterity over guitar. This course also focuses on Kalpana swara training and Raaga Aalapana training. On completion of this course, students will be able to handle the Guitar with great ease and will be ready to play complex Carnatic music krithis with simple kalpana swaras and raga aalapanas.Prerequisites

A minimum of 10 aadhi thala and 5 ata thala varnams in atleast 2 degree speeds with Thisram. This module also include Voice/Fingering training in different raagams. - Advanced KrithisDifficulty: HardDuration: 50 hours
A minimum of 10 vilamba kaala (Slow Speed) and Dhuritha Kaala (Fast Speed) advanced krithis. - Pancharathna KrithisDifficulty: ProfessionalDuration: 50 hours
Any two Pancharathna krithis. - Basic Raaga Aalapana and Swara Kalpana trainingDifficulty: ProfessionalDuration: 40 hours
Lessons to train the students in simple Raaga Alapana and kalpana swara techniques.
Overview
This course focuses on transforming a student into a complete Carnatic musician by training the student in various aspects of mano dharma. This course provides rigorous training on the nuances of Carnatic music like elaborated raga alapanas, Swara kalpana and neraval training. This course also provides concert training and raagam thanam pallavi training. On completion of this course, the student will be a complete Carnatic Guitarist, well equipped to perform full time music concerts and achieve his/her musical ambitions.Prerequisites

The system has an in-built video call classroom that works on the all major browsers. All you need is a laptop/desktop with camera and microphone attached and any one of the above mentioned browsers installed.
If you wish you take the classes on your phone, you can use the Bmusician app. Bmusician App is available both on Android and iOS.
There are basically two ways to get started with the classes. Live 1-to-1 or a Shared Slot. In case of LIVE 1-to-1, you can click the Enrol button below, tell us your time preferences i.e. when you will be free to take up the classes. We will allocate you a Teacher and Timeslot based on your preferences.
For Shared slots, you can click on the Teachers tab above, click the instructor you are interested in and select a timeslot that suits you and complete enrollment.
