Overview

This course will provide a great head start to Indian Percussion and the basic lessons in playing this unique instrument. This well-structured course consists of around 10 modules that educates students about the fundamentals of Indian carnatic percussion and trains the students in playing complete Aadhi Thalam lessons on the Kanjira. On completion, students will have a good understanding of the Indian rhythm system and will be ready to play a simple solo in Aadhi thalam on the Kanjira.

Prerequisites

Students who are New to music, New to Indian Percussion, New to Kanjira, People who have had training in other forms of percussion music but new Kanjira.

This course also focuses on teaching the students the mathematics involved in Indian Percussion and simple song accompaniment techniques on the Kanjira. In this course, students will learn complete Kanta chapu (5 beats) and any two of the 35 thalams. This course also focuses on teaching the students the advanced mathematics involved in Indian Percussion, Korvai Composition techniques and advanced song accompaniment techniques. This course also involves Korappu training. On completion of this course, students will be able to perform solos with Mridangam or accompany complex songs in Aadhi, Rupakam, Misra Chaapu thalams and Kanta Chapu thalams in both Vilamba kaalam and Chowka kaalams.

Students who have learnt Intermediate level Kanjira and above.

The system has an in-built video call classroom that works on the all major browsers. All you need is a laptop/desktop with camera and microphone attached and any one of the above mentioned browsers installed.

If you wish you take the classes on your phone, you can use the Bmusician app. Bmusician App is available both on Android and iOS.

There are basically two ways to get started with the classes. Live 1-to-1 or a Shared Slot. In case of LIVE 1-to-1, you can click the Enrol button below, tell us your time preferences i.e. when you will be free to take up the classes. We will allocate you a Teacher and Timeslot based on your preferences.
