Ashwath Prakash Acharya is the grandson of Bharatanatyam Exponent Karnataka Kalasree Kalaimamani Guru Sri. Udupi Laxminarayan and the son of Dr. Udupi Madhumathy Prakash. He is an architect by profession, running the architectural firm “1729 Design Studio” and a recording studio “Studio Acharya” in Kodambakkam, Chennai, India. He had began his musical journey at the tender age of 5 under the tutelage of Smt. Subhashri Ramesh. He learnt the foundation of music and has learnt many krithis in the span of 10 years. He then came into the tutelage of Sapthaswara Maamani Sri. S. Veeraraghavan, who is a disciple of Padma Vibushan Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna and is also the founder of “Gaana Lahari, Academy of Carnatic Music” for his advanced training in the year 2012. He performed his arengetram on 28th June of 2014. He has also given number of performances under his guidance. He has been awarded the title “Yuva Kala Bhaskara” in the year 2021 during the Nadha Aradhanai Festival conducted in Thiruninravur. He is now accompanying his mother on the vocals for her dance concerts and is also tutoring the younger generation under the guidance of his guru in the name of Gaana Lahari.
