Mridangam consists of a cylindrical body with two drumheads, one on each side. It is played by striking the drumheads with their hands, fingers, and palms, producing a rich and resonant sound. Mastering the instrument requires expert guidance. The certified courses give them a better understanding of the technical skills and Carnatic rhythms. Overview

A well-structured course where the students will learn the fundamentals of Mridangam that includes basic Carnatic music theory, Indian Percussion theory and complete Aadi Thalam lessons. The courses consists of around 10 modules in which the students will be learning Thisra (3 beats), Chathusra (4 beats) and Kanta (5 beats) in Aadhi thalam, Mohara and Koravai and some interesting korvais in Aadhi thalam. On completion of this course, the students will be able to perform a solo (Thani Aavartham) in Aadhi thalam and accompany simple songs in aadhi thalam.

Course Goals

Aadhi Thalam - 4 beats, 3 beats & 5 beats, Basic Percussion Theory, Mohora Korvai, Intermediate level Korvais and simple song accompaniment techiniques in Aadhi Thalam will be covered in this course.

Prerequisites

Students who are New to music, New to Carnatic music, New to Mridangam, People who have learnt other percussion instruments but new to Mridangam.

Overview

This course also focuses on teaching the students the mathematics involved in Indian Percussion and simple song accompaniment techniques. On completion of this course, students will be able to perform solos or accompany complex songs in Aadhi, Rupakam, Misra Chaapu thalams and Kanta Chapu thalams in both Vilamba kaalam and Chowka kaalams.

Overview

This course transforms a student into a complete Mridangam Artist by vastly improving his/her song accompaniment techniques, by rigorously training the student in all 35 thalams of carnatic music and improving the aesthetics or mano dharma of the student. This courses also helps the student in creating an own baani (style) and also aims at completely equipping the student with rich korvais and sollukatus composed by the Guru exclusively for the student. The course also provides Concert and Thani Avarthanam training. On completion of this course, the student will be a mridagam artist and a complete musician well equipped to achieve his/her musical ambitions.

The system has an in-built video call classroom that works on the all major browsers. All you need is a laptop/desktop with camera and microphone attached and any one of the above mentioned browsers installed.

If you wish you take the classes on your phone, you can use the Bmusician app. Bmusician App is available both on Android and iOS.

There are basically two ways to get started with the classes. Live 1-to-1 or a Shared Slot. In case of LIVE 1-to-1, you can click the Enrol button below, tell us your time preferences i.e. when you will be free to take up the classes. We will allocate you a Teacher and Timeslot based on your preferences.

For Shared slots, you can click on the Teachers tab above, click the instructor you are interested in and select a timeslot that suits you and complete enrollment.
