S.P. Ananthapadmanabha

S.P.Ananathapadmanabha is one of the top carnatic violinists. He started learning violin from Hosalli Sri K.Venkatram and underwent advanced training under Mysore Sri R.Dayakar, who exposed him to the legendary M.S. Gopalakrishnan style (Baani) of playing the Violin. In Chennai, he continued learning violin from legendary violinists – Padmashri Sangeetha Kalanidhi Kum A.Kanyakumari and Sangeetha Seva Niratha Coimbatore Sri B.Dakshinamoorthy. He also learned Carnatic vocals from Padma Bhushan Sri P.S.Narayanaswamy and Rudrapatnam Sri R.N.Thyagarajan. He has accompanied many leading musicians like Padma Bhushan Sri P.S.Narayanaswamy, Bombay Sisters, Sri T.V.Sankaranayanan, Dr. N.Ramani, Sri O.S.Thyagarajan, Sri T.V.Gopalakrishnan, Rudraptnam Brothers, Sri R.N.Thyagarajan and Sri R.N.Taranathan, S.Sowmya to name a few. His style of playing is characterized by phenomenal control over the instrument with brilliant repartees that inspire the vocalists, which has established him as a front-ranking musician. He has performed in almost all the leading sabhas in India. He is a recipient of many awards and titles and has been acknowledged as one of the top violinists of India in the field of Carnatic music.
