Cello Selvaraj

Fondly known as ‘Cello Selvaraj’ is one of the senior-most top violinist/cellist in the field of Indian film music. Selvaraj started learning at the age of 8 from his Father, Mr. Rathinaraj -violinist of Music composer MS Viswanathan, a popular, sort after composers of the 60’s. He started learning from Mr. Jayakumar and from the age of 15 his guru was Shankar Ganesh, a leading music composer of the 80’s. He started by learning to play the violin, but in no time, Selvaraj mastered other instruments like Cello, Double Bass, Viola, Violin, Clarinet and Trumpet . He has an experience of 40 years in music and 15 years of teaching experience. He has worked with almost 400 music directors that includes Ilaiyaraja, A.R. Rahman, Yuvan Shankar Raja and Anirudh. Selvaraj has worked in Film industries Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali and Oriya. He was also a music composer at All India Radio working with Lalgudi Jayaraman, V.V. Ravi Ramanujam and J. Subramanyam. Selvaraj also sings western style of music, composes, and acts which includes in his variety of talents.
