Papanasam S Sethuraman

Papanasam Sri. S. Sethuraman is a well-known Mridangam & Ganjira Artiste with an experience of more than 30 years of performing and teaching percussion art. Born in the year 1969 to Sangeetha Vidwan Sri P. Subramanian at Papanasam in the district of Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu, Sethuraman showed keen interest in percussion music from a very young age and started learning Thavil initially. It was at the instance of renowned Ganjira Maestro late Kalaimamani Mayavaram G. Somasundaram, he started learning Mridangam and Ganjira from the Maestro himself at the age of seven. For a few years, he also learned Mridangam from Guru Thoothukudy Sri. B. Rajagopal and currently continues to learn under senior Mridangam Vidwan Sri. Ramanathan Yogaraja. Sethuraman is one of the successful performers in the classical music field and also a dedicated teacher. He has accompanied a galaxy of stalwarts in many concerts in India and abroad. He has successfully trained several students from India, Germany, London, U.S.A. and Sri Lanka. He continues to teach many students from across the world.
