Ananya Thirumalai

Ananya Thirumalai hails from a family of classical musicians and began learning Carnatic Music at the age of 4 under the tutelage of her mother Smt. Sudha Thirumalai, disciple of Smt. Visalam Venkatachalam (a disciple of Sri. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer and an A-Grade Vocal and Veena artist - All India Radio, New Delhi). With a keen interest in the classical art form, she further learned the intricacies of Carnatic Music under the guidance of Smt. Dr. S. Sowmya, a renowned performing Carnatic vocalist and Musicologist. Ananya has given carnatic vocal concerts in Chennai and Bahrain. Currently, she is under the guidance of Smt. Ranjani Chander, daughter of Late Smt. T.R. Balamani. She is also a playback singer in the Indian Film Industry and started her career by singing in short films. She made her debut in film music in the year 2012 and has worked with Santosh Narayanan and Sean Roldan.

    Teacher Highlights

    • Worked on Santosh Narayanan’s projects “Pizza” and “Soodhu Kavvum” in the years 2012 and 2013 respectively.

    • Performed at the prestigious Music Academy with Sean Roldan – Concert titled “Chennaiyil”, an initiative by Actor Siddarth and RJ Balaji to raise funds for the victims of the Chennai Floods.
