Acknowledged as one of the top young South-Indian musicians, Surendran Ravindran has toured the globe, performing at prestigious venues and propagating the art through innovative teaching methods and lecture demonstrations. He has shared the stage with the legendaries like Dr. N. Ramani, Prapancham Seetharam, Tanjore V Prema, Gowri Gokul (Singapore) and many others. He has been conferred with the prestigious title ‘Padma Kiran’ by the Lions club and PS cultural academy. Surendran started his career in music as a vocalist. He is the grandson and disciple of the legendary vocalist Tanjore V Prema and son of Mridangam maestro Prapancham Ravindran. He has been accompanied by great artists like Prapancham Ravindran, Kalaimamani Muhursing, and many others. He is a part of the ‘NUS Indian Instrumental Ensemble’. He has been an integral part of the carnatic music scene in Singapore since 2012. As a Guru, he has been teaching Vocals and Mridangam to more than 100 students from all over the world.
Beginner Mridangam
A well-structured course where the students will learn the fundamentals of Mridangam that includes basic Carnatic music theory, Indian Percussion theory and complete Aadi Thalam lessons. The courses consists of around 10 modules in which the students will be learning Thisra (3 beats), Chathusra (4 beats) and Kanta (5 beats) in Aadhi thalam, Mohara and Koravai and some interesting korvais in Aadhi thalam. On completion of this course, the students will be able to perform a solo (Thani Aavartham) in Aadhi thalam and accompany simple songs in aadhi thalam..
