Smt. Purnima Sriraman is a Bharatanatyam dancer from Chennai, India with a passion for teaching and spreading the art. She has given several solo performances and was part of the Tamilnadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram’s Talent Promotion Programme in 2006 where she got sponsored to perform in 4 cities. She has danced in all group productions choreographed by her Guru Dr. Lakshmi Ramaswamy – the most notable production being ‘Jagam Nee Aham Nee’ that was staged for 18 days in Sri Lanka, and included a performance at the Sri Lankan Parliament. Her performances have been televised in channels such as Makkal TV-Adal Arasigalin Sangamam and Doordarshan Podhigai-Nadana Arangam. Smt. Purnima Sriraman has over 10 years of experience teaching Bharatanatyam to over 100 students from around the world. Her students have reached great heights and have been conferred prestigious titles including "Natya Mayuri" and K. Balachandar award. Students under her tutelage have also topped the Cleveland Thiagaraja Aradhana. Besides performing and teaching Bharatanatyam, she also yields the nattuvangam for her Guru, during stage programmes as well as television recordings.
Beginner Bharatanatyam
Bharatanatyam is one of most traditional dance forms that originates from India. Devotion, Workship and Discipline forms the core of this art form. In this course, students will undergo rigorous training in the fundamentals of Bharatanatyam that includes over 8 Adavus, Mudras, Mandi and Theermanas. On completion of this course, students will be eligible for the Intermediate level where they will learn Kowthuvam, Alaripu, Jathiswaram and other advanced concepts. .
