Thenkasi H Paramasivan

Thenkasi H. Paramasivam was born on 10th January, 1975 to K. Hariharan and Nagarathinam Ammal in Trichy. His father was a veteran Mridangam Vidwan who initiated him into the field of percussion. Having started learning the Kanjira under his father at the age of 5, he also furthered his skills under ‘Kalaimamani’ Trichy Sri R. Thayumanavan and ‘Mridangam Maestro’ Sri B. Harikumar, both Staff Artistes of All India Radio, Trichy. He took to the stage very early and has been playing the Kanjira for more than three decades. He was awarded the ‘A Grade’ in Kanjira by the All India Radio at an young age. A Kanjira Artiste par excellence, he has been accompanying many leading musicians and also giving ‘Tala Vadyam’ performances. Over the years, he has widely performed in music festivals and reputed organisations all over India and abroad. Other than music, Paramasivam is an expert in Yoga and has been giving lecdems and workshops.
