Venkat Sharma

Venkat Sharma (a) Venkat Subramanian, more famously known as Mr. Mridangam in his social circles, hails from a family of artists who has been in the performing arts industry for more than 30 years. Having been introduced to performing arts from a very young age, Venkat started learning Mridangam professionally when he was thirteen under Shri. Mylapore Ramanan and Shri. K. P. Anil Kumar. Then he moved on to learning under Dr. G. V. Guru Bharadwaj. Having started early, he was able to procure over 10 years of professional performing experience. He specializes not only in Mridangam but also in other percussion instruments like the Tabla, Ghanjeera, Ghatam, Tavil, etc. He is also a band member of Veena Sri Vaani’s Band and has traveled across India and other countries like Sri Lanka, UAE, Indonesia, etc for private concerts. He has also performed in prestigious art festivals like the December festival in highly reputed Sabhas like the Music Academy, Naradha Ghana Sabha, Karthik fine arts, Bharthiya Vidhya Bhavan, etc. He looks forward to more teaching as he believes the primary purpose of gaining knowledge is to share it.
